Although it was danced by 5 to 8 dancers, and included tambourines, it is now popularly danced in a set of eight. This version is a popular one, taught by Mike Salter, and does not follow the original notation

P on the floor
Two steps to pass partner's right shoulder, turn sharply 90 degrees right, then use six steps to describe a large loop to the left, ending in partner's position. With stick over right shoulder, and surge towards partner, engaging them in left-arm swing, for two turns, ending in original position.
Chorus
Even side hold stick in groin, pointing up about 45 degrees. Partners hold stick double-handed at bottom and clash their partner's stick with seven fast clashes. Right - Left - Right - Left - Right - Left - Right. Pause - Clash Left - Pause - Clash Right -Pause - Clash Left - Pause - Recipient holds stick over head, holding ends as partner deals the last clash. Repeat for partner.

Dance two steps to partner, in centre. Turn and dance two steps on spot. Odd dancers put stick over left shoulder. Put arm around partner's waist. Dance off around dancing area, coming back up towards music to end.
