The Dilwyn
Back ] Next ]

This dance is not that exciting. I learnt it from whats-his-name, when Clerical Error were in their infancy. I saw Flag Crackers do it, although knowing their repertoire, I don't know why this was included.

It had been collected by both Leather and Sharp. When observed by Leather it was performed with eight dancers. When observed by Sharp it was performed by sixteen dancers; not uncommon for the Welsh Borders, or Wales. The team was observed in the 1920'as with only five dancers, of who three danced with musical instruments (tambourine, melodeon and triangle), and the remainder had 16-inch sticks.
